Earned the smallest number of OWLs in his year Personality: Laid-back, carefree, just a tiny bit self-absorbed and normally quite lazy, Orsino is an easy-going guy whose main goal is to go out and have as much fun as he can in his life. When someone is angry with him, it can take him a while to notice, and when he does, he’ll go quiet and blink at that someone for a while, uncomprehending, while he tries to figure out what he did wrong. He isn’t overly intelligent, but he isn’t completely stupid either. He just lacks motivation for anything associated with academics and thinking too much. When it comes to defending the things and people he is loyal to, though, he can be fierce (well, not overly so... but a little) in his devotion to them.  FAMILY Mother: Calpurnia Stark (nee Thruston) Father: Unknown wizard Step-father: Hayden Stark (a muggle) Half-brothers (mother's side): Ferdinand Thruston (23 yrs) and Horatio Stark (12 yrs) School and Family History: Orsino’s mother, Calpurnia, was barely 19 years old when she had a drunken one-night stand with a nameless wizard she ran into in the Leaky Cauldron. Some months later, Orsino was born to an unwed, unemployed, slightly neurotic teenage mother. Calpurnia was a halfblood and her parents were murdered a year or so before by Death Eaters because of her pureblood father’s marriage to her muggle mother. The family name, Thruston, a fairly well-known name in the wizarding world, was about the only thing that lent Calpurnia and her son any respectability at all. She managed to find work as a barmaid in a small village pub, generally bringing her small son to work with her. She did not think it was good for Orsino to grow up without a father figure, and so she was constantly on the look-out for one. At one point during her never-ending string of boyfriends, when Orsino was four, she found out that she was pregnant again. She managed to convince her then-current boyfriend to get engaged, but by the time her second son Ferdinand was born, the guy was gone. Orsino and Ferdinand were inseparable, Ferdinand looking up to his big brother instead of any of their mother’s suitors. Eventually, however, when Orsino was ten years old, Calpurnia finally met someone who stuck. Hayden Stark, a muggle businessman almost ten years her senior, fell in love with her and asked her to marry him. Orsino and Ferdinand were resentful at first, used to being the most important people in their mother’s life and wondering why she would settle down with a muggle instead of a wizard, but Hayden went through a lot of trouble to get them to like him. He would never be one of Orsino’s favourite people, but when Hayden bought Orsino his first drum set (Ferdinand got a puppy), a grudging respect was earned. Orsino was more relieved than anything when he left to start at Hogwarts. He missed Ferdinand (and his drums), but he was glad to get away from his mother and her husband, because he felt like they were smothering him. His relief didn’t last long, though. When he arrived, drumsticks in his hand (along with a willingness to tap them against anything from the tables in the Great Hall to his housemates’ heads), he sat under the Sorting Hat for a full 90 seconds before being sorted into Hufflepuff. It took him about a week to start questioning the Hat’s wisdom for placing him in the House of hard workers, because he definitely wasn’t one himself. He went to his classes, but if he didn’t like the professor or he found the work too difficult, he would generally ignore his homework. Aside from Potions (which he seemed to have an innate and unexplainable talent for) and Transfiguration, where McGonagall and Snape managed to scare the obedience into him, and Herbology, where he put forth a half-hearted but generally unsuccessful attempt to keep up out of respect for his Head of House, Orsino did not care about schoolwork and only just scraped by most of the time. He was always cheerful about his failures, knowing that if he didn’t try to play it up to his advantage, he would be miserable. He molded himself to the image of the class clown, in an effort to keep his teachers and schoolmates from disliking him for his lack of motivation. His self-described “more than just moderately attractive” appearance certainly didn’t hurt his popularity either. In his third year, he chose Muggle Studies and Divination as his new subjects, mostly because everybody considered them to be bird courses. To his surprise, he excelled at Divination. At the end of his fifth year, he got both a new half-brother and a grand total of four OWLs (Es in Potions and Divination, As in Transfiguration and Herbology). His Potions and Transfiguration marks were good, but not good enough to get him accepted into the NEWT-level classes and, with the prospect of repeating his fifth year ahead of him, Orsino decided not to return to Hogwarts."
